The author deploys this concept as a warning: when simulating from the Agent's vantage, one must never sever oneself from lived experience to indulge in projection—say, an ordinary person fantasizing about the maneuvers of a transnational capitalist. Only what is grounded in what one has truly done, in the trenches one has truly waded through, carries flesh and blood.
